| Asheville, NC. Thursday, April 23. The producers of NewSong Music and the LEAF Festival are pleased to announce the following eight finalists in this year’s NewSong Presents: LEAF Festival Singer-Songwriter Competition. Now in its second year, the showcase and competition attracted artist entrants from across North America and as far away as Japan for the opportunity to perform and compete next month at the 40th LEAF Festival, located in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains just outside of Asheville, NC on the grounds of the historic Black Mountain College.

The performance showcase and competition will occur at 6:30 PM on Saturday, May 9 as part of the LEAF Festival, which occurs May 7-10 and will feature music, culture and art from over 30 countries. In addition to performances from all eight finalists, there will be an encore performance from last year’s LEAF Contest winner Wyatt Espalin.
“We’re very excited to be hosting and presenting these eight fine artists at next month’s LEAF,” said NewSong director Gar Ragland, who is producing the event. “The caliber of their songwriting and performance abilities should ensure that this year’s performance showcase and competition will once again be a highlight of the spring LEAF Festival.”

 The 2015 LEAF-NewSong Showcase & Competition Finals will take place in the historic Barn on the beautiful LEAF Festival grounds just outside of Asheville in the mountains of western North Carolina. The Barn served as an important classroom and venue of the historic Black Mountain College, and was built by its illustrious students.
